A revamped and reinvented insecticide could become a new weapon in the war against chewing insects for fruit and vegetables growers. Bundaberg field trials of Dow AgroSciences insecticide Success NEO have bolstered confidence in the product. While Success NEO was announced earlier this year at the Ausveg Convention in Brisbane, the official launch and demonstration of the product took place on a trial plot owned by Austchilli.
Success NEO replaces it predecessor, Success 2, and is promoted as being twice as affective
and lasting longer on the leaf. A new molecule called Spinetoram is SUccess NEO's secret weapon. The Austchilli demonstration was selected because of a significant western flower thrip problem. Half the crop was treated with Success NEO and the other half was left untreated. Inspection of the crop after the trial found pronounced scarring and bending on the untreated fruit where the thrip had free range. The results showed that Success NEO is better than the industry standard at controlling western flower thrip.
